Most people associate anything that has to do with dentistry with dollar signs. In fact, cost is one of the most commonly cited reasons for putting off necessary dental work. But at True Fit Denture Clinic, we believe getting the dental care you need should be affordable for everyone.
Some dental procedures are essential, others are cosmetic, and some are both. But fortunately, there are ways to repair a damaged smile without breaking the bank. Here are a few examples.
What You Can Do to Address Broken or Damaged Teeth
Fixes for chipped or damaged teeth can range from inexpensive composite bonding to pricey dental implants; which one is right for you will depend on the extent of the damage and your budget.
Composite bonding is an affordable way to address small tooth defects and even stains that traditional methods cannot remove, provided the tooth itself is still healthy. A composite resin is applied and dried over the damaged area. Once the procedure is completed, the composite forms a very strong bond to the tooth; however, the composite isn’t as durable as a crown or implant, so care must be taken around crunchy/chewy/hard foods.
Dental veneers and crowns offer another solution to damaged teeth. They are typically fabricated from natural-looking porcelain and custom-made to match your other teeth. Veneers leave your entire tooth intact and cover only the face of your tooth; crowns require a portion of the tooth to be shaved away so that the porcelain cap can be cemented over your tooth. Both veneers and crowns are more expensive than composite bonding, but they are also more durable and tend to last longer.
When a tooth is too damaged to support either a veneer or a crown, tooth extraction may be the only option. Depending on where the tooth is located, some people remove the tooth and leave the gap. This is the most cost-effective solution; however, it can have negative health repercussions, including shifting teeth, difficulty keeping the space clean, difficulty chewing, and speech problems.
Two other options post tooth extractions are dentures and dental implants. Dental implants are a permanent tooth replacement solution. Once implanted, they can remain in place for a lifetime and are nearly indistinguishable from natural teeth. However, they are costly, and the procedure takes a long time to complete. Patients opting to go that route should be prepared to wait several months between extraction and finally being fitted with their dental implant.
At True Fit Dentures, we offer another, more affordable solution.
Dentures are a reasonably priced way to address tooth decay or tooth loss. Modern dentures are durable, comfortable, and most importantly, they look very natural – you may even know people wearing dentures and never guessed it. Dentures can be made to replace a single tooth – typically referred to as a bridge – several teeth, or even all your teeth.
There is no reason to live with the discomfort or embarrassment of damaged teeth; with several options to choose from, there is an affordable way for you to love your smile again.
